From Arrival to Orientation, We've Got You Covered
Your wilderness vacation destination in Idaho will vary depending on the type of trip and the time you are coming.
In most cases we gather the evening before your Middle Fork of the Salmon River raft trip in the small picturesque alpine town of Stanley, Idaho. We will meet you for a group pre-trip orientation at “River 1” (a local store) to go over any questions you might have. At this time we will give you dry bags to keep your gear dry as we float down the river.
Most of our Stanley guests spend the night at the Mountain Village Lodge (800-843-5475) in Stanley. This Lodge is conveniently located and has many amenities that make staying there ideal.
If you are on a late season trip or any shorter trip which involves a fly in than you will most likely begin your trip in Challis Idaho rather than Stanley. You should contact us directly for lodging, flying and orientation instructions.
The Boise airport is the most convenient major air terminal if you plan to fly to Idaho. Car rentals, back country flights, and shuttle services are easily accessible from Boise. If you plan to visit additional destinations in the region, flights are also available to Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, Missoula, Salt Lake City, Idaho Falls and Coeur d’Alene.
If you plan to drive to Idaho, most of our float trips begin and end in Stanley, Idaho, an hour north of Sun Valley.
